Instagram Store, an evolution for brands on the social network

Anyone who uses Instagram knows that the social network only allows links in the biography and links in Stories (in the second case, only for verified business accounts or those with more than 10 thousand followers).

This limitation “forced” brands to invest in advertisements to promote links to their products. But, with the Instagram store, the possibility of inserting product links has been expanded!

Want more reasons to create your store on Instagram?
  • 90% of Instagram users follows a company;
  • in a survey commissioned by Facebook Inc. 81% of respondents said that Instagram helps research products and services;
  • 50% of Instagram users becomes more interested in a brand after seeing an ad for it on the platform;
The number of active users of the social network has already exceeded 95 million in Brazil.

What is Instagram Shopping and how does it work?

Instagram Shopping, or store on Instagram, is a feature that allows you to sell through the app itself. To do this, a new tab is used in the page feed, with an icon that imitates a “little bag”.

In this space, it is possible place products that are for sale and inform their price on a shopping tag.

This way, there is no longer a need to sell only through the profile bio link. With the “Shopping” tab, it is easier to promote a product, as the path to sales has been shortened.

When the user clicks on the photo of the product they want, a button appears that directs you to view the product within the brand's e-commerce or Facebook product catalog.

What are the Instagram Shopping requirements?

There are some steps that need to be taken before creating your store on Brazil's most beloved social network!

In short, it's as follows, you need to have a business profile on Insta linked to a Fan Page, have a domain, a product catalog on Facebook or an e-commerce.

If you don't have an e-commerce or product catalogue, you need to open an account in the Business Manager to create your catalog – it's mandatory, there's no way around it.

Thus, Products from your Facebook catalog can be tagged in Instagram posts, and will appear to users organically!

In other words, you post an image with your product and insert descriptions, price + link to purchase it.

In addition to creating a product showcase, you can also share promotions with ads in your feed or Stories to increase the reach of your publications.
After activating your Instagram store, users will be able to click on products and see commercial information such as name, description and price.

Okay, the user clicked on the post, viewed all the product information, decided to buy it, now what?

After choosing the product, the user will be directed to one of two options:
  • Facebook product catalog;
  • electronic commerce (e-commerce) platform.
For this reason, you need to have one of these two platforms before creating your store on Instagram.

What are the main features of Instagram Shop?

Now that you've set up your store on Instagram, check out the resources that Uncle Zuck created to increase your sales possibilities on the social network.

Sales in Stories

In addition to allowing greater frequency and dynamism in publications, Stories allow investment in paid media. This increases the reach of your posts, increases engagement and, consequently, results.

But how does shopping in Stories work?

It's simple! When creating a Story, you must use the sale tag. The procedure is very similar to using it in the feed, in fact. To do this, you must have the product catalog duly registered.

Shop in the “Explore” tab

Another possibility that the feature brings is to appear in the “Store” section in the “Explore” tab.

Do you know in the magnifying glass where you can search for “Games”, “Sports”, “Art”, “Fitness”, “Music” and other tags? Then, there is also the “Store” section, where products for sale appear for consumers.

For brands that intend to sell through the program, this could represent a new set of opportunities. After all, through this tab, It's not just followers who can view content and buy products, but anyone who does a targeted search.

You can appear in “Explore” by directing your ad to this positioning or using keywords related to your product and niche (this second option, organic, is more difficult to achieve because it depends on the goodwill of the Instagram algorithm).

CheckOut

CheckOut is one of the features that has not yet been released to everyone, but is still being tested in beta in the United States and a few other countries.

The idea is that the user does not need to be redirected to e-commerce to complete the purchase, You can do it within Instagram itself. In other words, it would change the last stage of what is already available at the mall.

This way, it will not be necessary to link a website to the social network. The brand will have a complete and real store right there on Insta!

Reminders for launches and new products in stock

This function helps remind followers about a launch, the arrival of a product in stock and also the create that feeling of expectation and general anxiety.

The reminder will help those who love being the first to buy something and those who are big fans of the brand and want to have all the latest news. #brandlovers

The feature works through a sticker that can have the name of the product or the next collection, and that little countdown clock you have on Stickers, you know?

It will also be possible to create a post in the feed with this reminder using a tag. Followers who click on the icon will receive a push notification letting them know that launch day is approaching.

Augmented Reality

This is one of the coolest features of Instagram Shopping. At least that's what we think! Hehehe

The resource helps brands not lose sales due to lack of a physical store. After all, there are still followers who are unsure about purchasing some types of products online without trying them first.

Nothing like a little help from technology, right? With the augmented reality feature, followers will be able to see themselves with a certain product, helping with decision making.

It works like game filters in Stories, you know? To use this feature, brands must use the sales markup tag.

This way, when someone enters the page's profile, they only need to click on the post or story tag to be directed to a specific page, which will show the product that the person was interested in.

When clicking on it, the front camera of the user's stories will open, and they will see what the product will look like! UHUUU

Initially, only a few cosmetics and eyewear stores are experimenting with the feature. But we can't wait for it to become available to the whole world!
